Replicas
This wonderful, small antique dress had certainly seen better days. Sent to me by a friend, who hoped to have a replica made of the dress. The dress belongs to a tiny 9 inch pink tint china. The dress was extremely fragile, but on studying it I could tell it was very well made, and all done by hand.
The top portion of the bodice was completely gone, and only the top part of the sleeves remained. I was able to save a piece of the original eyelet from the top of the bodice of the original to use for the new dress.
The new dress was fashioned using antique fabric that was very similar to the original. I matched the sewing techniques that were used before, and almost felt myself transported back in time while I was working on this project!
The two dresses, side by side!

This was a fun project. A new doll friend of mine asked me to restore an antique pair of boots.
They were small, less than 2 inches long and probably made for a French Fashion. Time had done a number on this pretty pair of shoes...The leather was rotten and reduced to powder as soon as it was touched. Luckily, I was able to salvage enough of the upper to make a pattern for the new boots.
The leather sole and tiny wooden heel were still intact and useable.
I used an old brown leather glove and tiny stitches on my machine...and a couple days later, voila!
Both original boots were missing one of their buttons, so after consulting with the customer, she elected to leave one space blank, in case she could find the missing buttons. Miniature antique shoe buttons like this would be hard to come by! Thanks for this opportunity Mary! I had fun.
